Re: CuteIf will be the same Ferdinand, will be a bigger one :)) (the photo has already one year and half)
But, you could kindly ask the bear: " Are you that Ferdinand?"
It's better to do this from a safe distance... just in case :)))

Re: CuteWell Yatsec, as I know, in 2007 were several attacks with some injuries and only one (I'm sure about this accident) with deadly injuries. But it is very probably that the situation is different.
The photo with Fernando was taken one week after the deadly accident, at maybe one-hour distance from that place.
In Bucegi Mountains, III-rd degree meetings with bears are quite ordinary.
This year I heard about only one deadly attack (in town) and several attacks with minor injuries.
In the final, I may say that the majority cases of the attacks, it was the tourist's mistakes. For example food in the tent.

Re: CuteI run toward the vicinity of the bear (as stealth as possible), and then the bear has done the rest. I mean the position, the place etc. He was quite calm (he eats grass-so was not angry) so I had the courage to stay about 10 minutes around (about 25 meters), taking photos.
In the same day, on an unmarked path I saw another two bears, but at a bigger distance.
By the way, Fernando was walking very calm on a marked touristy path ;)

if you don't mind...I attached this magnificent romanian brown bear to an article about french bears of the Pyrenees. I hope you don't mind, brown bears are brown bears and it makes a perfect illustration.

Re: Sweeeet shot!Dear Rdmc, thank you very much!
If I should know that the flowers makes the bears cooperative in the front of camera, every time I go in the mountains, in my backpack I will put a bouquet of roses :)
