"So I was sitting in my cubicle today, and I realized, ever since I started working, every single day of my life has been worse than the day before it. So that means that every single day that you see me, that's on the worst day of my life."

Grand CouloirNot sure I enjoyed this mountain. Climbed the Grand which, was a lot mellower than I expected. Pitch averaged about 37 degrees over three readings. West ridge was boring & easy. The east ridge had some unexpected class-3 rock (wasn't bad) followed by more boring talus.
Descended into Hoffman Park. Partner suffered two accidents. Long day.

From TaylorI came in CR 224 / FR 228 instead of the jeep road up from Garfield. There was good camping, and I got my medium-clearance car to about 10,800', but it's probably faster to just hike up the jeep road from ~9600' in Garfield if you plan to do both peaks. Stay on the ridge between them, as the bowl to the south is mostly steep and horribly loose.

grand couloirclimbed the grand couloir as a rainier warm-up with mike, aaron, jamie and steve gladbach. swirling, obnoxious winds aren't my cup of tea, but they are useful for pacific northwest preparation.

Taylor/AetnaTraverse from Taylor Mt,lot of unstable and loose rock, but we managed to summit without problems. Aetna is not very popular 13er in Colorado but very rewarding.

Aetna & Taylor via Grand CouloirWith an alpine start we shoved the rubicon as far as she would go through drifts - front and rear lockers engaged! The air was cold and the snow PERFECT for cramponing in the Grand! I've had my eye trained longingly in this esthetic route for so long, it was a joy to make this trip a reality! I was dragging ass, but no matter - pushed it on to the top of Aetna before traversing to Taylor. Beautiful weather!!!

Grand CouloirClimbed up the grand couloir from Garfield with Jamie, Jamie, Aaron and Steve. Chilly winds and swirling snow, but Steve and I went on to Taylor afterwards and rejoined the group along the road on the way out.

nice day outWent up South Ridge, descended east ridge to the Mt. Aetna-Taylor saddle. Windy, a lot of snow for mid October, nobody else seen all day long.
Went over Taylor back to Boss TH, hike up to check out the Boss reservoir, and then down to Garfield.
