I literally thought I was going to be blown away! All you lightweights...beware a windy day on Audubon! Overall, it was an enjoyable day.

Route Climbed: East Slopes Date Climbed: May 27, 1985  Sucess!

After an uneventful approach thru the trees on top of frozen snow, we hiked the snowfields and trail up the eastern slopes. On the descent we had a few nice glissades, but once back into the trees, we lost the trail, plunged to our knees constantly in the afternoon melted snow, and plugged our way back to the raod closure.

Route Climbed: Brainer Lake Date Climbed: December 4, 2004  Sucess!

Climbed with Georg Betsy on a beautiful, clear day with only variable winds (contrary to forecasts). Amazing views all around, but a bad day for altitude--I recently moved from WA. Sick and lethargic towards the summit and pretty much the whole way out. Some navigational challenges orienteering our way back to the lake, made even more fun (can you hear the irony?) by deep, deep snow in the woods to plod through. Despite being sick, a great trip.

Beautiful day but extremely windy! The CU research station at Niwot Ridge (11,200') measured 50mph gusts... I'd guess winds at the summit around 70-80mph. Fun quick and easy winter hike.

Scary ridge of talus on the way up, but well worth it. Spectacular views from the summit.

Route Climbed: South East Ridge, descent by East Slopes Date Climbed: October 10, 2004  Sucess!

Very direct, strenuous tallus climb with exciting exposure near the top. Not as bad as the North Ridge of Neva, but the crux notch is certainly greater than third class, especially with 8" of snow. Summit view is spectacular and well worth the effort. Great trip in fantastic fall weather.

Spectacular views of Indian Peaks after the dusting of snow the previous weekend. The rugged mountains looked particularly dramatic.

Route Climbed: Brainard Lake Date Climbed: Wed Sept 1, 2004  Sucess!

No summit register and no USGS marker (that I could find) but the disappointment stops there. Awesome, swathing (is that a word?) view of pretty much all of southern RMNP plus Longs' south face, the Never Summer Range, Lake Granby, and the spiky northern Indian Peaks. This is a popular place, but patience rewarded me with some quality solo-summit time. Next time I bring a buddy and we try the Paiute-Audubon Traverse, it looks airy and exciting!

Outstanding views of the Longs massif and the Apache massif. Went ahead and got the high point to the north while I was there, Roach's 'Notabon'.

Climbed Audubon as part of my own personal challenge to cover the whole ridge from Audubon, Paiute, Toll, Pawnee, and Little Pawnee in a day. Was a great trip (see my tripreport for more information). I covered every highpoint along the ridge and thus went up Mount "Notabon" (see Roach) as well as several smaller high-points along the way. -- Great views of Longs peak from the whole ridge!

My first alpine summit! It hurt, but we had been hiking in the Flatirons in previous weeks, so we were somewhat prepared.... I look back at pictures and wince at the clothes I was wearing! Ouch!

Route Climbed: Blue Lake Loop Date Climbed: August, 2002  Sucess!

Climbed this mountain with the Boulder Mountain Club. They paced too slow for my taste. Bunch of slackers! At least there is class 2 stuff towards the summit. I liked the prayer flags at the top, giving it a nice Himalayan feel.
