Clear but windy day
A group of us climbed Audubon as "break" from our mountain bike trip. Spent some time in the Estes area biking before heading out to Fruita. Great trip and I really enjoyed this climb and the views.
Climbed with Shanahan96 and Jamie Nellis via the trail with a stop on "Notabon". We then continued on to Paiute. Fierce winds all morning had this one feeling more like early November!
enjoyed the change of having a nice trail/walkup this weekend. the flippin' wind was out in full force and we weren't glad to see it!

Audubon Trail
Walked up the trail to the Audubon summit with the intention of traversing over to Paiute, but the weather was no good and I headed down. I enjoyed the views of the surrounding peaks, though.
Tried the same traverse but wanted to add Toll and Pawnee on 8/28/18, but the weather was even worse! Despite the sunny forecast there was almost no visibility and 50 mph winds on the summit. Very cold too. Tried to wait for it to clear for two hours, but no luck!

Audubon
Hiked up the eastern slope on a sunny day. Sure a good way to escape the near 100 degrees in Denver. Headed over to the saddle to do Paiute as well but the weather turned so we dropped down to Blue Lake.

My 1st alpine summit!
Used this as a test piece before attempting to climb one of the mighty 14ers. For me, its where the obsession began.

Peaceful hike until the scramble. Winds were amazing. I had to stay on all fours to keep from blowing away!

We summitted Audubon and then scurried back down the trail in heavy rain with hail mixed in, along with really loud thunder.

Trail
Great hike! Plenty of fun talus towards the top and excellent views of Long Peak and the surrounding Indian peaks.
Don't ask the exact date because I don't remember but July '05 was the last time attempt, I ran into a nasty thunderstorm this time around but there was several other times that I did make it. I just can't keep track any more
