Made the summit with Chef007(Adam) at 9:47am. Enjoyed the nice views of the Sawtooth. Bierstadt was quite simply the easiest all around 14er I have ever climbed.
Route Climbed: West Slope Date Climbed: January 10th, 2006
My first 14er. Great day! Very windy but great weather otherwise. Climbed with friend of mine. Very good, easy route for winter. Well-marked route all the way around. They aren't kidding about the willows, they can be a pain if you lose the trail for a second in deep snow.
Route Climbed: West Slope Date Climbed: January 14 2006
Springlike conditions during SP Winter Gathering. First winter ascent, much easier than expected. Great people, good times.

Sorry I didn't get a chance to spend much time with everyone; however, it was great meeting everyone and putting the names with the faces. It is people like you that make these gatherings successful. Thanks for showing up and making this the best gathering yet! See you next year!

Another wonderful SP Winter Gathering. After attempting to summit on two previous Gatherings, I finally made it. Although I was last to summit, with that many fellow SPrs breaking trail for me, the snow wasn't slowing me down...just the usual flatlander lungs. Great day, beautiful weather, gorgeous mountain views, and great company...it just doesn't get any better.
Route Climbed: West slopes (standard trail) Date Climbed: January 14, 2006
Climbed with many fellow SP'ers on the winter sp outing. Great company. Weather clear and relatively warm. Will this day set the record for most recorded SP-ascents on a single peak? Usually crowding on route is a pain, but today it was fun to laugh and joke with so many people, finally meeting them face-to-face.
Route Climbed: West Chicago Creek Trailhead Date Climbed: August 9th, 2003
After sleeping in the tent, that was setup on the side of the road, I drove the 1/8 mile to the trailhead and parked the car and in the middle of the night proceeded towards the summit. Somehow I was not 1st but 2nd after a bunch of young kids already made themselves comfortable on the summit. Great views, and crisp air that morning....
Route Climbed: western slope from guenella pass Date Climbed: December 11, 2005
I was just planning on snowshoeing in the area but was suprised at how little snow there was on the mountain and I had the time so I decided to go for the summit! I saw a few people down low but had the summit all to myself. There was a bit of snow down low, not enough to cover the willows but enought that you would want snow shoes or skiis. About half way up the snow was rather sparse. I saw a couple of tele skiiers who turned around here because of lack of snow.
