30 years ago I was on an Outward Bound type adventure and tried leading a group over the top of the dome. We got just above tree line and I had to start chopping footholds with my sheath knife, about a 12" blade. We never made it to the top.
Today, it seemed all too easy. From the west trailhead it took about an hour to reach the summit. Gorgeous day. The trail is in fairly good condition. There are several ice flows to navigate around but all in all a quick jaunt to the top.
