I hiked to the Mills Moraine/Chasm Lake junction, then climbed directly up to the top. Then I went down the north side to Granite Pass and returned via the Longs Peak Trail. I started at 6 AM, reached the summit around 9:30, and got back at 12:30 PM. Absolutely no one else was climbing MLW, everybody was headed for Longs (I was a little tempted to go for Longs myself). There are a lot of spiders in the talus. The sky was clear at the start, but clouds built up surprisingly quickly, and by the time I got down past Granite Pass, it was cloudy and raining a little.

What a day! 11.5 hrs car-to-car, 4 hrs lake-to-summit. Funky on and off weather gave the climb spice!

Great day!! Including myself, only two people on the WHOLE mountain. Saw some Ptarmagin and had my Mountain Hardware softshell returned to me after it fell out of my pack by the only other guy up there. Kudos to Tom at Mcdonalds paperiae in Estes!!

East Slopes via Longs Peak Trailhead
An uneventful day with hard packed snow that didn't require snowshoes. The summit was freezing and offers an amazing view of Longs Peak East Face.

Total inversion that day had clouds down over the front range cities that crept up to us on the mountain. Never seen anything like it before or since.

I went up the North Long's Peak Trail to meet a group that was traversing Meeker, Longs, Storm, and Half Mountain. Before the group arrived at the keyhole I climbed Mt. Lady Washington. After we met up at the Keyhole we climbed Storm Peak and bushwhacked down the north ridge of Half Mountain in the dark. We came out on the North Long's Peak trail just above the Galacier Knobs. I've been there twice since then...once at sunrise. Mt. Lady Washington has the best seat in the house for a dynamic view of the Diamond on Longs Peak.

This was an incidental summit on my way to the Boulderfield of Longs. Heavy snow and high winds were present for the climb and ultimately ended my crampon aided bid for Longs via the North Face (Cables) Route as well as teh Keyhole route. Deep late-season snow was present starting at the trailhead. Snowshoes were essential on the descent.

Nice winter outing with SP'er Brad Snider. Partly sunny, ~31 deg F at TH and 20 deg F at summit. Trail from Longs Peak TH packed snow in trees and blown off up high. High winds (G60+) on summit, but much lighter on lee (east) slopes.

A perfect winter day with lots of sun and minimal wind. I couldn't believe how calm the weather was on the way up. Out of all of my trips up longs and in that area in general, I have only had 2 days without interesting weather and yesterday was one of them. Climbed with chicagotransplant and some other people not on summitpost. Fun day!
