This hike is vying...

... for my favorite to date. I planned our route by drawing on a topo map and plugging it into my GPS. We used snowmobiles to reach the summer trailhead and after a short hike on the flat we started climbing the ridge. We were socked in, the snow was deep, and we were apparently discovering all the weak spots. But soon we climbed above the clouds into sunshine and incredible views as we reached timberline. We made our way up the craggy ridge over "Esprit Point" to the saddle below Shavano's south slopes. By this point we were thoroughly exhausted. We climbed up to the summit where we decided we had no reserves to bag Tabegauche and reclimb over Shavano. So we called it good and descended in the waning sunlight.

Parents refers to a larger category under which an object falls. For example, theAconcagua mountain page has the 'Aconcagua Group' and the 'Seven Summits' asparents and is a parent itself to many routes, photos, and Trip Reports.
