Route Climbed: Fourmile Creek Date Climbed: October 28, 2005
Great climb with Bill of Dearborn, IL. New views, save a great snowy ridge. Easy climb, even in winter white out conditions, save for a bit of routefinding.
Route Climbed: Fourmile Creek Date Climbed: August 04
The most uneventful 14er I've done. This is a very good beginning 14er. This will let you begin to interpret weather issues at altitude without overtaxing yourself.
Route Climbed: Iowa Gulch Date Climbed: Sept. 7, 2005
Easy by 14er standards, though there was quite a bit of scree and loose rock. No one else was coming from the Leadville side today, so I was surprised to find myself alone at the trailhead.
If you park at the road closure sign, make sure you walk up the road for 3/4 mile before diving into the basin at a cairned turnoff. I bushwhacked quite a bit before finding the trail. After that it was a slog up rocky slopes all the way to the summit.
Route Climbed: Southwest Ridge from Fourmile Creek Date Climbed: August 22, 2005
My first 14er, hope it's not my last. Think I did pretty well for an overweight and old flatlander from Indiana. Thanks to my new son-in-law, DJ, for showing me the way. I love you son.
Route Climbed: Fourmile Creek Date Climbed: September 3, 2005
Climbed with my ten year old son. His first fourteener. There were probably 100 people on the mountain this Saturday of Labor Day weekend. I was surprised at how late many of them were starting given the clouds forming.

Route Climbed: 4 mile Creek Date Climbed: 10/31/04
Very windy, had it all to myself. Also climbed it 11/11/07 from Iowa Gulch en route to Gemini and Dyer- still windy. Climbed again from Iowa gulch with the whole family (Lauren's first 14er)- still windy!

We had perhaps our most bizarre 14er experience ever on Sherman. As we were descending Sherman on our way to Gemeni, my wife & I approached a couple of people that were fixated on a large furry object on the ground. Hush my mouth & kiss my grits! it was a beaver about 20 of 30 feet from the summit of Sherman. This was extremely bizarre. At the end of the day we concluded that the rodent was carried up the mountain by a raptor of some description. It appeared injured/dazed.
Route Climbed: Fourmile Creek Date Climbed: July 18, 2003
My 1st 14er! I was foolish enough to make an easy fourteener moderate by climbing straight up a scree slope instead of taking the trail. Being from the east, I was out of breath on moderately steep scree with no place to rest! I was very happy once I got to the easier terrain of the summit ridge.
Route Climbed: Fourmile Creek Date Climbed: May 29, 2003
Piece of cake for number 8. Up and down in shade over 2 hours with Shane and Peter. Old coal mines added a little flavor to this enjoyable hike. Great view of Democrat and and classic cirque. Everybody should do Sherman!

A few false peaks, and a long ridge on top.

This is one of Colorado's easiest 14ers.
