I am surprised that this summit is the second tallest of the group. I see there is a route named for Kiene (David?) Anyway a very nice page.

The Kiene route in question was climbed by Ernst and Kurt Kiene who were active before World War I. Theirs is also a very popular route on Castelletto Inferiore--not far from Cima Brenta. It would be an interesting coincidence if SPer David were related to these other two Kienes. I'm glad you liked the page. Thanks!

very well-written page about your name's patron!

You may link to my Bocchette Alte route page on the group page. I don't remember the upper part of the normal north route being a problem, but this was in 1997

Thanks for the suggestion about the link and for posting some nice pictures. It was my first time on Cima Brenta, but Gabriele has dug up a picture from a few years back that shows the extent of the change at the top of Vedretta Nord. The crossing proper is probably easier now, because there is no snow. However, said crossing is at least two meters lower than it used to be. The descent into the notch and the ascent out of it are UIAA III, more or less. The vedretta itself is downright scary. There were two spontaneous rockfalls while we were there, one of them pretty sizable.

I was happy to be back in the Brenta Dolomites after 21 years, but the demise of the vedrettas was definitely a sad note.

Wonderful page! Four stars to both of you, Fabio and Gabriele (a lot of coordination is seen here). I'm happy that you made this obviously nice joint tour (and perhaps others too).

Thanks, Vid. It was a pleasure to meet Gabriele. Unfortunately, my time was limited and Cima Brenta was the only climb we did. There should be more opportunities in the future, though.
