Various routes, various summits
Brent & I took the Timpooneke Trail and made it up to the wind-raked summit hut in 3+10. The wildflowers on the north end of the meadow below the summit block were breathtaking. This is without question one of the nicest "mild" hikes in the Wasatch. This was my fourth time at the summit. On October 9, 2007 our small group plowed through 18 inches of snow up the glacier draw and topped out on "Second Summit" at 11,722'. Dave, Christine, Brent, Lana & me. Very windy but not cold. If the activity of the 9th weren't enough, Lana & I took the Timpooneke trail but angled north to intercept the summit ridge at a modest saddle at 11,282' and then followed the snow-icing ridge to the north peak. Nice little mailbox there. What a day and what views looking back south along the entire ridge. Well worth the effort. Lots of snow and some steep attaining the ridge. Have fun! On April 22, 2008, Brent, Lana & I ascended the Dry Canyon trail to a meandering, broad snowfield leading to the saddle south of the summit. Six hours later we were "resting" in the summit hut which was 2/3 filled with snow. This route was excellent. The snowfield is south of the Everest Ridge and is also called the Dry Canyon North Fork. #5 6-1-10 Dry Canyon trail to Everest ridge and to true summit in 5+15. Still plenty of very good snow above 8,300'. W/ Dave, Walt & Christine. Sloppy bookkeeping: a couple of climbs but not dates. #9 (?)10-20-12 Solo 3+07 to top in stiff winds above the saddle to the summit. Wonderful cell reception :) 2+32 down on a sunny fall day. IVD #13 7-25-15 Fantastiches Ereigniss Mit Yz. #14 9-28-15 W/ Anne, Paula & Brent. Pleasant weather & eye-pleasing fall colors. IVD #15 10-27-15 W/ Brent. 3+52 up. Brutally cold winds from the saddle to the top. IVD #16 8-5-16 W/ Brent & Lana. 4+30 up, spectacular wild flowers in the upper meadow. #17 10-25-16 Solo. The most amazing rime ice decorated rocks, plants and the walls and rigging of the summit hut. Joined Trevor Taylor in the hut; we both marveled at the roiling clouds and occasional vistas. 3+52 up. #18 7-14-17 W/ Dave, Lana & Brent. 4+34 up from Timpooneke TH. Lots of lingering snowfields. Used crampons and ice ax for one stretch below the upper lea. #19 9-30-17. W/Yadahzoe. 4+36 up. Fierce winds from saddle. Wind chill @20 degrees. Icy trail from big early snow one week ago. #20 6-2-18 W/ Yadahzoe 6+20 up. Lots of snow from 8,800'. Crampons, ice ax, hairy traverses but awesome glissades coming down. Bluebird day, wild flowers in abundance already. #21 09-28-18 W/ Brent & Lana. 4+08 up on a scenic fall day, autumn colors awing the senses. #22. 02-08-19. W/Lana. 4+58 up. Still tricky snow patches to traverse. Quite warm. #23 07-17-2020 W/ Lana. 4+21 up. Wildflowers abundant, 150+ people at least hiking, maybe more. Wind at saddle and all the way up. #24 10-19-20 W/Lana. 4+30 up. Cold NW wind from the saddle to the summit. At least 70 others on the trail. #25 07-07-21 W/ Lana & Brent 4+22 up, gorgeous wild flowers. 104 degrees in the valley! #26 10-01-21 W/Lana. 4+56. Fabulous fall colors. #27 07-11-22 W/ Lana & Brent 5+03 up, wildflowers by the hundreds. Bluebird day. #28 10-14-22 W/Lana, Makendy, Dev & Jamal. 5+00 up. Fall leaves wonderful. Bluebird day. #29 08-09-23 W/Lana 5+08. Fantastic wildflowers. #30 09-09-24 W/Lana. Handicapped hands. 5+50 in wind. #77 in the 80in80 project.

The Record Continues
Summit 352 bagged today, continuing the lifetime summits record. Climbed the mountain over 30 times this summer. I think I'll go do the ridge trail for a while . . . something a bit more runnable. I'm tired.

Via Timponooke route. Saturday, so very crowded but a beautiful hike, probably the best I've done so far. Look forward to a future ascent via aspen grove in the future... and on a weekday. Wildflowers galor.

Timpooneke Trail
Beautiful day! Began at 7:15, clear weather till 12:30. The meadows were in full bloom, and convinced me to add this hike to my calendar for both August and September of this year. The weather was hot, and I look forward to future fall hiking.

Timpooneke Trail
Nice solo hike on a beautiful summer morning - had the summit to myself.
Great day, perfect morning weather, awesome trip. While we sat at the summit hut, a fighter jet buzzed the summit. Very cool. Took a slide down the glacier, and a nice walk down to Aspen Grove.
hiked many times. this mountain has many facets. I love it.

From big baldy saddle there was quite a bit of bushwacking down low and loose shale above tree line. Not a very fun route without snow. Step was very straightforward. Descended down the traverse then glissaded down the snow into canyon to the east of the ridge (Dry creek canyon?)

Timpooneke Trail
Climbed this peak with summitpost members elessar, tatwood, and cougarclimber. We went up the Timpooneke trail starting at around 11:30-12 on the night of the 16th. By the time we reached the Timpanogos Basin, the sun was starting to rise, giving us plenty of light to get up the headwall. There was a lot of snow still up there and it was really steep. Cougarclimber's anklewas giving him issues so he went back down just before the summit ridge. The rest of us went on to the summit, then glissaded down the glacier and returned to the timpooneke trail.

Superb route. I loved the scenery and the surrounding environment. Spring is a great time of year to climb this mountain because the contrast of white on the mountain and green in the valley is astounding. The glissade down was one of the best ever.

Route climbed: Aspen Grove Trail
Set out to hike this one with my older brother Barton, but due to time constraints he turned around above the shelter so I told him I would find a way back to my Provo apartment by begging a ride from someone. I was successful in making it to the summit (12 inches of snow on top) and in getting someone to give me a lift back home.
22 years and one day later, my wife and I were awakened by a phone call from our son Lance early on a Saturday morning. He said, "Guess where I am." He was on top of Timp with his Uncle Eric and his cousin Spencer, watching the sunrise.
I climb Timp. when I was only 11 or 12 years old. I can't remember much about the hike other than I thought it was a long hike. I hiked it with my friend and his uncle. We used the Timpooneke Trail to hike the mountain.
