Sunday, August 19, 2012: a fine scramble on Munt Pers (3207m; T4), preceded by a pleasant hike from Camping Plauns (1860m) to the small but picturesque Lej Pers lake (2531m), and followed by a long and rather boring descent past the ugly Diavolezza hut (2990m). Total time for the tent-summit-tent round trip: a little over ten hours.
I lost my way after the little lake, and ended up climbing a good deal of the north ridge at first. The white-blue-white markers of the Senda dal Diavel route however, are on the east ridge. So I had to make a little traverse on scree. Next time I'll bring a map...
The views from Munt Pers on the glaciated Bernina group are nothing short of magnificent, but also fairly depressing, as the retreat of the surrounding glaciers (notably Morteratsch and Pers) really hurts the eye.
