The Black Diamond Cobra Ice Tool is a high-performing weapon of choice for all-around use thanks to a torsional-balanced design for controlled swings.

Features:

The patented twisted design adds extra clearance and the carbon fiber shaft enhances stability while absorbing vibrations

The design and shaft also place most of the weight in the head to reduce pendulum fatigue on long climbs

Torsional rigidity delivers a world-class level of control

The Cobra’s Laser pick features a thin taper and low-volume tip for superior penetrating power

Leash sold separately

Lightweight, well balanced and easy swinging are just a few of the words I'd use to describe the Cobras. They worked equally well on waterfall ice and mixed. Excellent on steep and over hanging moves.

Seems like the pick is a perfect placement with every swing.

The price is on par for most upper-end ice tools, but still a bit pricey for most poor climbers.

I have used these tools on about a half-dozen trips and really like them. They don't vibrate much or at all when they hit the ice and flick very easily.

Really the only things I don't like about these tools is that they are expensive (but you get what you pay for) and they don't let you do much leashless with them unless you start modifying the tool by adding to the tool, which I have seen climbers do.

The leashing system that you can get for the tool is first rate and easy to use.

Sweet Tools
These tools are way awesome. The swing is dead solid, and they don't vibrate very much. You definitely get some solid placements with these tools.
