Product Description

Welsh Winter Climbs is one of the North Wales online guide projects dedicated to providing up-to-date beta for the area's crags. It was created because, in light of global warming, it is unlikely at present that the guidebook "Welsh Winter Climbs" by Cicerone will be updated or reprinted. As such there are numerous hard and easy routes that do not feature in the current book, and need a place to be seen. It is hoped therefore, that this site will become a useful resource for climbers and mountaineers.

The site has already produced three high quality PDFs for free download with lots of other information available on the website itself. The PDFs cover:

Clogwyn y Geifr/The Devil’s Kitchen,
Cwm Cneifion/Clogwyn Du, and
Ysgolion Duon.

Super site
The old reliable guidebook, "Welsh Winter Climbs" by Cicerone, is old, over 20 years old in fact and in need of a significant update. But with no prospect of an update is sight, what is there to do? Start a wiki style guide of course and that’s exactly what this Welsh Winter Climbs intends to do. And it does it very well. Colour photos, topos, new route descriptions can all be found here for most of North Wales and in addition to the online info there are also a handful of superb free pdfs to download. These pdfs are clear and professionally done and are a credit to the creators. It still has a long way to go to become an all encompassing and comprehensive guide, but the initial building blocks are there. All in all this is an excellent and improving resource for winter climbers, particularly if you don’t want to shell out for the now aged Cicerone offering.
