There is a good class 2 route up the rocky spur, well-marked with cairns in the upper sections. This is a good, low-talus route with spectacular views. This route is recommended in John Hart's "Hiking the Great Basin" (pp234-5) and is also the route taken by Pete Y.

I've taken this the rocky ridge route twice, as well as the east side gully, and greatly prefer the ridge. I know the ridge looks intimidating, but there is a split with a class 2 route just past the scrubby aspens; later, one goes right on the spur till a cairn indicates a hidden class 2 ramp to the left.

I think you mean "Scofield Canyon".
