Introduction
Simonside Crag is situated near the village of Rothbury in the heart of Northumberland.
The rock is hard sandstone which has excellent friction akin to the gritstone of Yorkshire and Derbyshire.
The crag offers climbing throughout the grades with fantastic scenery.
Simonside is not as popular as nearby Bowden or Kyloe but is well worth the extra walk in (half an hour)
There are also a number of hikes and mountain bike routes around the crag, moors and nearby forest starting from the forestry commission car park
