Route Climbed: Llanberis path (it was all I had time to do!) Date Climbed: 29 august 2005
Did the easy route just to get the summit in the bag before heading home. It was raining quite heavily when we started with low visibility but about 10 minutes from the summit, the cloud/fog cleared and we were confronted with the wonderful views. Very enjoyable day, but very strange to walk into a cafe once at the top!
Route Climbed: Cluyth (forgive the spelling) Date Climbed: September 2003
We did a multi pitch rock route next to snowdon, then bagged the summit afterwards. On route was some of the loosest rock ever and no gear placements. Oh well, lived to tell the tale!
It was awseome! started out at the pen y gwryd hotel in the late morning then walked up to the base of crib goch and got started we ate a fantastic lunch at the top because it was a nice sunny day then we got going again and got back to the hotel round 6 and had a few pints.
Route Climbed: Crib Goch Route Date Climbed: 23rd Dec 2004
I climbed up the crib goch route. Was going to do the horseshoe, but due to poor light and bad conditions, decided would be safer to come down the pyg track. Crappy enough day. V. little visibility, rain and mist/fog were a constant companion. Crib Goch arete is very enjoyable though.
Route Climbed: Seven different so far Date Climbed: Various from mid '70's on
One of the mountains I learned my love of mountains from. I generally go back every two or three years now and try out a different route to the summit each time (planning to do the horseshoe this year). Highly recommend the Pyg Track if you want to convert anyone to mountain hiking.
Route Climbed: From Llanberis Date Climbed: June, 2000
My first peak that I have on my official peak log. I climbed it on my random exploration of the British Isles. My travel mate didn't make it to the top so I quickly grabbed her a granola bar from the top and came back down to her. The top was windy enough where I was grasping to the top pedestal for dear life as I took a picture of myself as the highest man in england and wales. Wonderful experience for a first peak.
Route Climbed: Everywhere Date Climbed: Too long ago
Great mountain as long as you dont go near the summit!!If you want to do Crib Goch, start half way down the Llanberis pass, walk toward Dinas Cromlech and head up to Clogwyn Y person, grade 3 scramble up to the crib ridge, you come out in the saddle, turn left over the pinnacles and the Crib and back down the North Ridge, thats a great day out!
Route Climbed: PYG track then Miners Track Home Date Climbed: 17 Jan 2004
Blue Sky in North Wales (Rare), Snow and Ice (Rarer these days), No wind (very rare), altogether (once in a life time!!)
The new dusting of snow on the route made an interesting and exciting day . The PYG track was busy with plenty of snow from 500m up. Great views of the entire Trinity face and Glaslyn cwm. The zigs zags are much safer these days with some path works near the summit. No cornice breaking out on to the summit ridge. Faily sedate descent through snow but with great sceanry.
Route Climbed: Crib Goch Date Climbed: 26 December 2003
2nd summit; 1st was at the end of summer in 2002; now went up in winter. The 1st part of the Snowdon Horse Shoe to the summit via Crib Goch. Felt like punishing ourselves after an overindulgent Christmas day.....Took us best part of 4 hours to the summit in gale winds, blizard conditions, hale and continious rain. Zero visibility with a map that resembled toilet paper after 1 hour. Thank God for a compass. I really enjoyed the ridge and would love to repeat on a clear winter's day (do these exist in Snowdonia?) after some snow-fall. Took the direct route down as there was not enough daylight hours (and madness) left to complete the 2nd half of the Snowdon Horse Shoe.
Route Climbed: Horseshoe (Crib Goch, Crib y Ddysgl, Snowdon, Y Lliwedd) Date Climbed: 15th July 2003
My 4th trip up Snowdon, this time finally got to enjoy the delights of Crib Goch. Had lovely weather for it (even a little too hot), which might explain why Pen y Pass car park was already almost full when we got there at 8.45am - we were lucky to get one of the last spaces.
This is the first time I've been up here while the train is running - shame about the crowds, but being able to eat a sausage roll in the cafe made up for that!
Route Climbed: Pyg track Date Climbed: May 18, 2000
Took the Pyg track going up in poor weather. Got to top in zero visibility. Walked down next to train (on Llanberis path) and caught it (the train) a mile down the path. It was the best $6(pounds) I ever spent as I was very cold. Enjoyed a hot bath at the Victoria Hotel in Llanberis! What a great trip on my first time to Great Britain as I was also able to climb Ben Nevis three days before."
Route Climbed: Crib Gough Date Climbed: September 1999
The previos day we had gone up the miners track in pouring rain but the next day was blue sky it was a wonderful climb probably the best mountain I've ever cimbed.
