Overview

The Southeast Ridge is a class 2 off-trail scramble route to the summit of Guadalupe Peak. Do not attempt this route unless you have experience scrambling, bushwhacking, and routefinding on difficult terrain.

Route Description

Follow the El Capitan Trail until you reach the base of the ridge. Gain the ridge and follow it until you reach the cliffs at the top of the ridge. There are many 5th class and scrambling possibilities here, but the easiest route is a walk-off to the right. Once at the crest, join the Guadalupe Peak Trail near the campground and follow it the rest of the way to the summit.
