Nice Hike
Hiked Devil's Slide Trail from Humber Park, out and back in six hours, with a novice hiker from work. A nice hike with a few tongues of snow over the trail on the Tahquitz Peak Trail.
I climbed this various times in various seasons between 1999-2004.

Cold but great!
Above 8,000 feet on the Devil's Slide Trail the trail was completely covered in snow. We did not have crampons but took our time on the steep slopes to reach the summit.

Another awesome night hike!
Started at 7:10pm hiking with my 14yr old daughter. It was definitely turning to dark by Saddle Jnct. Got back to the car at Humber before midnight. We used headlamps for the hike down for better speed.

From Humber
Nice short hike. Had time to spare afterwards for a beer and burger in Idyllwild.
No views as a spring blizzard was gaining strength through the day, but a great day in the hills nevertheless.

Another winter day hike to Tahquitz Peak
Penelope and I hiked the South Ridge Trail on January 15, 2007 all the way from the High Castle area of Idyllwild (due to winter road closure). Since we left second car at Humber Park, we crossed the Tahquitz Bowl to Devils Slide and Humber Park on some deep and in places fairly frozen snow (no crampons needed). Another good day in our neigborhood

Fun, fun, fun...
Easy little hike from Tahquitz Valley. Great views from the top, we could see Mt. Baldy and Santiago Peak. Got a Squirrel Card from the Fire Watch volunteer.
I really enjoyed this hike. I liked the lookout tower. This represented the breaking of a climbing fast that I had been experiencing, and It reminded me of what i am missing out on
Enjoyable climb with the exception of the flies. They simply laughed off my insect repellent lotion (spray is probably better). Failed on my bid to add Lily Rock. I'll try it again on the correct switchback.
I volunteered here for two seasons at the fire lookout. I'll go back after my books are published. Great hike from any direction. Excellent views. The sunrises and sunsets are more than spectacular from this vantagepoint.

muggy
Quick hike up Devils Slide, beautiful trail, just gray and muggy out though! The desert divide area looks real promising. I have to get out that way next year. Especially want to do Antsell.
I hiked up this peak for the first time in January of 1984. There was only a little bit of snow due to the dry winter. I hiked it several more times in the eighties. The last time was in December of 1999 by myself. I love this place!

Via South Ridge Trail, March 16th, 2006
Penelope May and I snow-shoed up the South Ridge trail from the Highcastle area of Idyllwild (due to winter road closure). Wonderful snowy views of Garner Valley and the desert peaks along the way. About three feet of snow at the summit lookout hut.
3 friends and I did this nice trad route in about 3 hours. The Mummy Chimney sucked... It was a great day and in addition to the great climbing there were LOTS of laughs.
