First Time
I almost didn't go thinking I wouldn't be able to do it because I had never hiked somewhere with this much elevation, coming from somewhere with completely flat land and extremely close to sea level. However, the moment I made it to the top I felt so accomplished realizing I did this despite my own thoughts, it was honestly one of the best feelings I ever had, and I'm hoping to hike more at Philmont now that I've finally been able to experience it for myself.

Tooth of Time is chewing on me
Climbed this peak with Shaefers Peak. Super iconic with amazing views. The only thing not good about this peak is going down the Stockade Trail :(.
My crew awoke at 3:00 am and hiked 8 miles to the Tooth of Time and we arrived at the summit just minutes before sunrise. Quite an enlightening experience!

Philmont Trek 08-02N
My first scramble. I remember my entire crew being dehydrated since we hadn't quite prepared for the side trip. Still a fond memory for me.
My first real summit with some great friends. The second time we climbed it in the dark to see the sun rise. Long before head lamps. If I ever go back it will be with rock shoes and a rope.

Training
The first time I was up here we didn't actually make the summit. So this was my first time to the top and I did it on our Ranger training. Such a cool peak
The crew hauled a few gallons of water up to Shaeffer's pass camp and attempted to make it to the Tooth. Crew opted to turn back due to early stages of dehydration for multiple members, as well as fatigue from long day hiking.

summer '94
stopped by the Tooth on our way back to base camp. Nice views from the top. We had a minor scare when a sofa-sized boulder we were sitting on started to slide, but luckily it stopped.
On tour with Scout Troop 232 from San Jose, CA.
what a final day to my first philmont expedition! we got up at 3am and hiked to the tooth for sunrise. the view was the breathtaking with the sun coming up over the new mexican desert. it's a moment you never forget.

A long time agoHiked to the top as part of a Philmont scout trip in my teens (mid 1980s). It was a fun, challenging week.

Great memoriesClimbed the Tooth at the end of my '95 and '97 treks. Great way to finish. But the hike back down to basecamp always seemed to drag on forever.
