Slieve Donard

My job takes me on occassion to Belfast, Northern Ireland so obviously my gaze fell slightly south to the Mourne Mountains and the highest point of this country Slieve Donnard.  Nothing makes me happier than nabbing a peak during a work a trip.  Some collegaues agreed to take me up, however the night before we planned on going a unexpected snow fall made for more interesting hike than planned.

Beautiful crisp fall day.  This looks back towards the lovely seaside town of Newcastle

View up from saddle.  The Mourne wall protected from the wind nicely

The other mournes calling for future exploration

It got icy from here.  My female colleague pictured had to turn back due to lack of proper footware and waited in the saddle for us.

From top you can see Isle of Man, Scotland and Wales across the Irish Sea
