The Hike that turned into a CLIMB!![Unnamed Image]()
My wife, sister, her boyfriend and myself attempted to climb Mauna Kea the 10th of June, while vacationing in Hawaii. I wanted to write a very detailed report, because I felt like the information I received from blog posts and YouTube clips didn't adequately prepare us for how challenging of a climb this was going to be. We ended up turning around at the halfway point. We started at the Visitor Center, which was around 9200 feet. We climbed to 11,500 feet over the next 3.5 hours. Although we didn't complete our planned summit, we had a great day and the views were second to none. It was a great experience, one that I hope to be able to try again!
