Approach

Follow the directions in the "Getting There" section of the main page. The trailhead from PA Route 233 is just before the Colonel Denning State Park entrance, and marked by a nice sign.

Route Description

This route heads up the ridge with similar steepness to that of the Flat Rock Trail. You'll gain 1,500 feet of elevation in two miles. This leg is just part of the entirety of the Tuscarora as it stretches over 140 miles into Maryland and Virginia. The trail is pretty rocky and meets up with the Flat Rock Trail on top of the ridgeline. It is a farther one mile to Flat Rock from here. That makes the total distance 6 miles with 1,700 feet of elevation gain.

Essential Gear

Comfortable hiking boots, food/water, trekking poles, and a camera.
