I started in the outdoors canoeing, sailing and camping very young at "camp". My parents sent me to one of the many extended stay overnight summer camps in the Muskoka, Ontario region; where Canadian and American parents send away their misbehaved city kids for the summer, to get peace and quiet. I like to think of it as a "boarding camp".

From there I progressed to doing backpacking in Algonquin Park and then the Adirondak Mountains of upstate New York. From there I moved on to Colorado, Columbia Icefields and Alaska Range.

Then I stopped going to the outdoors for like 20 years and remained in the city. Now I want to start up again - because I'm not getting any younger, and time catches up with all of us.
