Vârful Vânătarea lui Buteanu or Vânătarea lui Buteanu (Vârful in Romanian language is peak, often used wrong name
Vânătoarea - what`s mean hunt) is the 9 th highest peak in Romania and 5 th in Fagaras Mountains. The meaning of word "
vânătare" comes from the archaic name of far purple rocky peaks.
Another interpretation of the word is from document
recognizing the value of the land not suitable for grazing.

Getting There
The best way to get here is Transfogarasan Alpine Road -
Balea Lake - highest point of this route. Lake Balea is reachable by taxi, bus or personal vehicle from the town of Curtea de Arges or from Sibiu.
Route
Easy trail leading from parking at Balea Lake, we shoul just pass the Balea Lake and go up to Saua (Pass) Caprei. At the pass we can see nice Lake Capra. We can start hike also from south part of Transfogarasan Route, the trailsare connecting at Saua Caprei. From Pass follow to narrow path leading to the summit. First we reach lower summit, there is some short part with little scrambling.
Vânătarea lui Buteanu is very good viewpoint, its situated almost in the middle of Fagaras Mountains, taller peaks are far from there. To east we can see Moldoveanu and Vistea Mare, to west - Negoiu and Lespezi. Time of ascent is about 2 hours of not too fast walk.

In Romania we can camping, without any permissions, often used place to wild camping is meadow at Lake Capru. Mountain huts - where we can sleep are at Balea Lac.
