Overview
Velik vrh is part of eastern Kamnik/Steiner Group, south-east from Ojstrica. The summit is 2.110 m high, the paths aren’t marked; only small stone-pyramids, made by former climber, are help to find the right direction to the summit. On same ridge on west-north part is also a summit of Velika Zelenica (2.115m).
The look from peak is open to east (direction Raduha and Savinjska dolina) and south (to Menina planina), in directions north and west are also higher mountains (Kroficka, Ojstrica).
Getting There
The best point to start is Planina Podvezak or Planina Ravne southern from summit, where we come from Podvolovljek valley. This valley start in Luce (good road from Mozirje) in Savinjska dolina, the road in valley leads over Kranjski rak and Crnivec to Kamnik.
When we go from Podvezak, we take a path direction Korosica (also a mountain hut). This part of path lead over Dleskovska planota (named also Veza). We should follow a path on south stope of Veliki vrh (more right), so we come to the path from Ravne. On right side we will see a sign for Veliki vrh (near saddle named Prag).
Red Tape
The path from slope to the summit isn’t marked, only a small stones-pyramides help us in orientation. Specially when we go down over ridge to the east (also possible path), some problems with best solutions which way to choose, can be present.
