Pinnacle Buttes and Stormy Skies

Pinnacle Buttes and Stormy Skies

View in Orig for better size and detail; this picture has been cropped a little. Seen from Brooks Lake. None of these pinnacles are one of the four main summits of the massif; they are along the narrow, jagged ridge connecting the NW and main peaks. Because of the rock quality, these pinnacles are rarely, if ever, climbed; some of the pinnacles of this massif have never been climbed. Absaroka Range, WY-- June 2009

Nice Photo

One striking thing about this photo is the beetle killed conifers at the base of these pinnacles!
Great sky! Great Light!

Re: Nice Photo

Thanks, Tim. I was up top around there a few hours before and climbed one of its neighbors the next morning. Great outings!

Striking

The striations of rock layers look cool.

Re: Striking

Thanks-- this is one of my favorite mountain formations; it's a beauty to see and great fun to climb.
