Winter Climb of Mt. Major

I decided to do a little winter training so I decided to do a simple day hike up Mt. Major. I took the Boulder Trail up and the Brook Trail down. The Boulder Trail was steeper and was clear of ice for the most part. I did the hike without crampons and used trekking poles. This is fairly simple, but it is an 1100 ft gain over 1.6 miles. Very windy and cold at the top (40 mph) but some great views of Winnepesaukee. The Brook Trail down was ice covered and very slippery - I only slipped twice. Could have used crampons, but not essential. Overall a great little training climb.
