Quick trip before work
with Rory. We hit the ridge directly from the parking area. Good immediate elevation gain, but good to take a little slow with the rocky nature of the ridge. Made it to the false summit pretty quickly and to the true summit with a little down climbing on a use trail. Fun, short climb with killer views of Red Rock.
No real trail, just a lot of light scrambling along the ridge line. There's a log at the top. Don't be fooled by the first "false" peak. Push on to the real peak as described in the review. Great view of Red Rock Park.

A fun scramble
I started down at the picnic area and hiked up to the parking lot at the east end of the spine, then headed up the ridge over the sandstone formations to the summit. There was significant snow over the last part, and began snowing again while I was on the summit. Not hard, but snow nonetheless. This was the 2nd time I was up there. Great hike when time is short.

Fun scrambling and route-finding
Did this one in the afternoon after Turtlehead. It was really fun! Lots of route-finding interspersed with random, faint use trails, and a good amount of scrambling, especially early on in the hike and near the summit. While not at all a lengthy hike (it took 1 hr. 10 min. up, and 1 hr. 5 min. down), it still proved to take longer and provide more challenge than I'd expected -- the loose rock near the top had me slightly on edge since I was alone. Not many people make this summit according to the two summit registers at the top (one in a neat old tin Quaker Oats can, and a second added for some reason in 2010). The peak catches sunlight for a long time and is a great afternoon hike; the view into the canyon and the Springs is fantastic.
East ridge approach; then on to White Rock Hills highpoint via the south ridge
Hike this one with Steven Stembridge. Nice weather early on, a tick found me then I found it. The ridge over to White Rock Mountains wasn't too bad. Steven descended the way we came up.

Route from the W is most interesting, also most likely to cover you with ticks.

Couple RoutesNice, short peak adjacent to White Rock Peak. There's a neat agave roasting pit one can check out at the base of the southeast ridge too.
