Fun with Zoe
Really nice hike through the pinyon-juniper woodland. Great views on a clear day, perfect temps. Quite a few people out on the trail. Just under 4 hours roundtrip from the charcoal kilns.

Pinion Pine forest to the summit
Wonderful hike. Good campsite at Wildrose Campground, early morning hike up. The views are most likely the best that can be had from any DVNP peak, Telescope excepted. From Baldy in So. Cal to Owens Peak to Olancha Peak and the whole eastern escarpment of the High Sierra.

Grand Finale
Wildrose was the grand finale of a long but very rewarding 5-summit day. Great views from the summit after snow and fog had limited visibility from Telescope earlier. Trip Report

Excellent afternoon hike
Late start, but good weather and no snow. Nice views of the valley and Mt. Whitney.

windy, snowy Wildrose
I swung through Death Valley hoping to do a solo trip up Telescope, but the ranger at Furnace Creek strongly cautioned me not to do it without an ice axe, which I didn't have. He also warned that it would be near impossible to drive up to anywhere close to the trailhead, including the Charcoal Kilns.
As it turned out, there was little to no ice on the road and driving to the kilns in my sedan was no problem at all. I ran up Wildrose, wearing microspikes for the final mile or so as it was mostly packed snow and ice. The top was super windy and socked in with fog, but it was still a nice climb! Round trip 2.25 hours.

Change in plans due to snow...
Solo trip to Death Valley National Park for New Year's 2015. Intent was to hike Telescope Peak, but given the time of year road was not accessible to Mahogony Flats campground and trialhead. Spent time trying to get up the road with another group in a van. After much pushing and shoveling, we abandoned the idea of Telescope, turned the cars around, and opted for Wildrose Peak. Somewhat of a late start, but it's not too long a hike. Daylight quite short on New Year's day. Great way to start the year!!

Wildrose
Hiked with Greg K. This is one of the more boring peaks I've done in Death Valley. But I understand it's popularity. The views are good and the trail is easy.

Great hike!
Still patches of snow here and there on the trail, but not problematic. Sunny beautiful day, 58 degrees at Charcoal Kilns at start of day, hiked up in short sleeves, only needing a coat while enjoying the summit. Awesome views!

With 8-year-old son
Enjoyable hike from the charcoal kilns with my son. Lots of Germans in the summit log (good on 'em!), steep sections were a definite workout. Sierra views were sadly obscured by haze.
Dayhike with my girlfriend on a warm March day. I especially loved the views west to the snow covered high sierra. Inyo County is the best.

A quick trip to the Panamints to see what the roads and snow levels were like.
A nice peak with a nice view.

Wildrose Peak
Nice hike that provides beautiful summit views into Death Valley and toward the Sierra Nevada range. This was the warm-up hike on the way from Las Vegas to Lone Pine, CA before a Mount Whitney summit hike two days later.

Evening from the Kilns
Evening warmup hike before sleeping at Mahogany Flat and hitting Telescope the next day. Lightning in the valley and did much of the return leg via headlamp.
Did this one solo. Nice classic National Park hike. Long meandering trail through forest, leading way for the great views above treeline. Had more fun here than on Telescope. Highly recommended!
