"After the first glass, you see things as you wish they were. After the second, you see things as they are not. Finally, you see things as they really are, which is the most horrible thing in the world."

Mummy Mania Peak 3With my buddy Ben Kiser, we continued our Mummy Mania route from Chiquita over to Ypsilon. Was pretty chill around 5am, and found myself pulling out extra layers. Made it to the summit before sunrise and finally got to see some of the shadows of the mountains ahead. On to the rest...

Blitzen Ridge & Y Couloir8/30/08 - Noobs on Blitzen Ridge. Ridiculously long day caused mostly by rope management issues... first time trying to use doubles!
6/25/2016 - Left Branch of the infamous Y Couloir. Massive runnels made for some interesting and very steep climbing. A few low 5th class rock moves required at the 12,700 ft constriction. Cornice up top was blunted and nonthreatening.

BreathtakingOne of the greatest climbing experiences I've ever had in RMNP. Lots of solitude, and a whole lot of fun class 2. Summit views stretched for miles and miles.

Mount YpsilonEnjoyed the solitude and peace on this hike. I did not see another human. The route was direct and open. The weather was exceptional. A joyous day.
