Product Description

The Salomon Men's XA Comp 3 GTX is the weatherproof version of Salomon's classic trail running shoe. Whether you're a competitive adventure runner or just out for a jog, the Comp 3 GTX's Gore-Tex XCR will keep your feet dry and comfortable. Salomon's patented 2-D chassis places a shaped plastic shank under the Comp 3's insole that controls twisting on variable surfaces. The XA Comp 3's toothy, Running Contragrip outsole blends several different hardness combinations with a toothy tread to give outstanding traction over a wide range of conditions. You'll appreciate the open-cell structure of the Ortholite insole on long, strenuous runs, since it allows your feet to breathe better than traditional insoles.

Unbelievable...
how long a pair of these have lasted for me. I use to be a competitive trail runner and these shoes are too heavy for that. But I won a pair and used them for short summer approaches in the Canadian Rockies. But since I have been spending more time in Southern Utah, I find they are my primary approach shoes for Red Rocks and Zion. On long rock climbs, many times your descent will not be conducive to coming back to the base of the route, thus you have to biner your shoes to your harness. These are light enough to make that work, yet, incredibly durable....I am already a huge fan of Salomon's lace technology and do trail run in a lighter version of this shoe, but appreciate the Gortex, toe cap and just plain ruggedness of this heavier shoe that serves as my primary approach shoe and lasts forever in the desert.

10 out of 10
A great shoe from a purchase on eBay. The XA Comp 3 GTX is a great wearing confortable ready to go shoe that has lasted better than other approach shoes. A 10 out of 10.

Gets the job done
I have owned mine for just over a year now and I do not really have any complaints about them. They breathe really well and are cushioned just right for short lightweight backpacking hikes. At first I was unsure about the quick lace system, however after a year of hard use I have never had to re-tighten the laces because they got loose. They make adjusting for uphill/downhill a cinch and I end up missing the quick lace system on my other boots/shoes.
