Route Description
Past the "MUCK" gate proceed up Dry Branch on a jeep road marked on the Saltville Quad. The jeep road crosses the creek and climbs the ridge. The skid makes the ridgeline NW of BM1388. At the ridgeline is a fence (WMA boundary) This jeep tread is seriously overgrown until making the high ridge. In the summer this route will be almost impossible to find.
Alternately , when the above jeep road crosses Dry Branch a newer jeep track continues upstream but ends about 3200 foot elevation. Contour through the woods to the ridgeline. There is a fence along this ridgeline
Once at the ridge hike north, up/around the cliffs, to the plateau. Proceed north, west, and north, along the ridgeline, to the summit. There is no trail. Be warned, this is an extreme hike. (The topozone link is to the ridgeline NW of BM 1388.The primary image is taken from the gap, looking west up the ridgeline at the cliffs in the woods.)
