Route Description

Description / Terrain: Strenuous hike, steep 1.5 miles then levels off on an abandoned railroad grade. Cedar Lake has a trail all the way around it and an overlook trail with scenic vistas that go up from the south end. Outstanding alpine-type lakes; vistas of Bellingham, Mount Baker, and the San Juan Islands. No bicycles or horses allowed around the lakes due to wetland conditions. Rustic camping at both lakes, limited restroom facilities. Elevation from trailhead to lakes is 1,280' and 1,574'.
