Rifugio Alpe Pozza "Vincenzo Lancia"

You are the welcome in the kingdom of the Pozza

.....is sculpted in the "Sassom", the enormous boulder post at the end of the Valley of the Cheserle, The summer pasture of the Pozza was "discovered" in the years '20 by few young partners of the S.A.T. in Rovereto. The charme of the environment, of those enormous spaces, is increased during the winter period by the charming snowy extensions.
Those pioneers gathered in the Ski Group malga Pozza; in those years they used to start on foot from Rovereto, bearing skis on their shoulders, to reach Giazèra and finally the malga. The idea to build a Refuge on the Alpe Pozza was launched by Amedeo Costa in 1931 that already thought to title it to Vincenzo Lancia, industrial from Turin, pioneer of motoring, founder of the homonymous car company.

The project of the Refuge was processed by Giovanni Tiella and the Refuge Lancia was inaugurated in october 1939. In the postwar period on the Alpe Pozza the first chairlift, connecting Pozzacchio with the Refuge, started to be active in 1947. After some seasons however, in 1953, the installation was dismantled for the difficulty to keep open the road in winter. In 1968 was inaugurated the little church built by the Forest Body of the State near the Refuge. The S.A.T Section of Rovereto from some years, with the support of the Central Organization of the S.A.T., is engaging a battle to have the Pazùl and the Piccole Dolomites recognized as a Natural Park. Among its objectives also the closing of the road car to Alpe Pozza

it is situated in the village of Trambileno (Trentino Alto adige), in Alpe Pozza locality, on the Pasubio Group 1825m


In absence of snow the Refuge is an excellent starting point for all the trips on Pasubio. A big net of paths perfectly marked and fit for use, allow in fact, leaving from the Refuge, to explore the whole mountain group. To be pointed out that most of the paths go on old roads and muletracks of the First World War, and the landscape is strongly influenced by those historical events


Opening period:1 June - 30 September. The Refuge, apart the normal period of opening, will be open in the winter season also in the weekends starting from the 11 December. In the holiday it is granted the continuative opening from December 24 to January 6 2005.

From Vallarsa ( north Pasubio)
Car:
Vallarsa can easily be reached from north and south driving on the Brennero state road 12 or the motorway A22, exit at the toll gate of Rovereto Sud, from there on the SS46 Pasubio or the road SP89.
Train
To the railway station of Rovereto and from there by bus.
Airplane
The nearest airports are Verona Catullo (90 km), Venice Marco Polo (195 km), Milan Linate (245 km) and the new airport in Bolzano (60 km)
