Featuring 107 peaks from Greater Yellowstone's 13 core mountain ranges
When most of us think of Yellowstone, a sublime land of geysers, forests, meadows, waterfalls, and wildlife set in America's first national park comes to mind. However, there is an even greater Yellowstone defined by an enormous ring of mountains surrounding wondrous Yellowstone Park and comprising portions of Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. This alpine envelope includes mountain ranges such as the Madison and Beartooth ranges to the north, the Tetons and Wind Rivers to the south, and a vast eastern bastion of mountains known as the Absaroka.
In Select Peaks of Greater Yellowstone, discover the story of man's eternal quest to hike, climb, and ski the region's summits and examine detailed information about 107 of Greater Yellowstone's most spectacular mountains. Of course, this list includes the famous Gannett Peak, Grand Teton, and Granite Peak, but it also introduces 104 other mountains with outstanding attributes from Greater Yellowstone's 13 primary mountain ranges. Illustrated with 15 maps and over 640 photographs, peak profiles include anecdotes from early ascents and ski descents, ascent statistics, and route descriptions for mountaineers of all abilities.
