Overview

Chinese Peak is home to Sierra Summit Mountain Resort. Located 65 miles North-East of Fresno across from Huntington Lake on CA HWY 168. Aside from great downhill skiing and snowboarding, the mountain is open in the summer time to hiking. In winter, aside from skiing, there is plenty of snowshoeing trails as well as snowmobile trails and rentals in the village of Huntington Lake.

Getting There

FRESNO, CA East on the 41, to East 180, to East 168. The highways are easy to get on and off, which is pretty much what you do until you get on the 168.

Follow the 168 thru the foothills as you pass thru Academy and other little towns. The town of Prather is a little farther up. After that the drive become more of mountain driving as you start up steeper grades and windy roads.

Pass thru Shaver Lake and continue to Sierra Summit and the Inn or continue into the little hamlet of Huntington Lake.

The resort and Chinese Peak is 65 miles from Fresno off HWY 168.

Always carry chains when driving into the mountains in winter and spring months.

Camping-Red Tape

Edison Campground near Shaver Lake has bathrooms and benches and they charge $35 dollars to overnight camp and $5 dollars for day use.

Tamarack Ridge is a RV and campground, located farther up the road past Shaver Lake but before the Resort.

Sierra Summit Inn on the Resort base charges from $59-350 dollars with many lodging options from economy rooms to family sized condos. Website below.
