Approach


Use the standard Fortress approach from KY 77. This approach trail is on the left side of the road just before you get to the second pull-off after you go uphill from the intersection of KY 77 and KY 715. Once you've reached the rock follow the trail left until you come to a boulder the size of a large van. Snake is approximately 50 feet past this boulder. It can be recognized by looking for a crack that starts wide and narrows to hand size as it takes a winding route up the face.

Route Description


In the beginning this route is beefy but is soon takes a change to accommodate many wristlocks and good pro. Start up crack that leads to a chimney. Chimney a few moves then swing out onto the face and head for the hand crack, follow the crack and take the right fork at the top. Gain a ledge the anchors will be about 25 ft. to the right.

Essential Gear


Slings, a couple of small stoppers or cams (0.0 or 0.1Metolius) the chimney has a small constricting crack in the back. Once you reach the hand crack the gear is 0.75 thru number 2.0 camalots.
