Lagorai panoramic view
It is an amazing and interesting group full of small lakes and streams, wild and silent, that brings hiker in a dream land.
This land was a battlefield during the 1st World War and, obviously, is full of strongholds and trenches joined by good paths.
Geology
The area belongs to the Porphyric Atesina platform, starting from Merano and Val Gardena (North) and ending with Valle Vanoi and Valsugana (South), formed by quartziferous porphyry,
The range is made of effusive, intrusive and metamorphic rocks coming from consolidation of effusive lavas (270 millions of years ago).
The only Cima d'Asta massif is formed by one different rock (intrusive rock : granite)
It was merged upon the "Tetide sea" till 20-25 millions of years ago than (alpin orogenesis).
Glaciers and weather events moulded the actual Lagorai range.
Orographic info
Summits of this range are not so high, the highest one is the Cima Cece (2754m)
Old glacier circles host small lakes, the biggest one is the Lagorai lake
