Angour

Overview

The Angour is positionned in the High Atlas in Morroco. It's belong to the 'massif of Toubkal' which is the highest mountain in Nord Africa reaching 4167 m. The South face of the Angour is famous for her climb way which reach about 300/400 meters. Also known for three corridor which are located on the North face, one is still unknown. The easiest way is level : . rockway = III+/AD . corridor = AD+ ( 40/45°) The Angour have a form of a table, and it's reach 3616 m.

Getting There

There are two acces to the Angour : . the easiest one consist to drive until the ski station of Oukameiden which is about 65 km from Marrakech in direction of the Ourika valey . the second one consist to drive to the ourika valey until Setti-fadna which is about 55 km far from Marrakech. The both road are well indicated beginning from Marrakech. The second one drop you at about 1,5 day walk from the Angour. The first one drop you near from the Angour ( 1 or 2 hours walk).

No permits or fees required. No seasonal closures.

When To Climb

For the corridors : in winter best period : month 03 and 04 possible period : month 11 to 02 and 05 For the rockway in summer even if you can climb it all the year : best period : month 05, 06 and 09 cold period : month 11 to 04 but cold warm period : month 07 and 08

Camping

Basicly in summer you can make camping every where. In winter you can sleep in the following hut : . oukameiden by the CAF (club alpin francais ) hut or by the kenzi hotel . in the tacheddirt valey, you can sleep by the CAF hut in Tacheddirt, also by hut which are located in the small village Ikkis, Ouaneskra . In the Ourika valey, you can sleep by the village of Timichi, also by Iabassene and Setti-fadna

Mountain Conditions

Same as in the Massif du Toubkal, that's means : . first snow fall usualy beginning from November . best time to plan ski : february to april . best time for climbing : april to september In summer, there are often small shower at the end of the day. Be careful in this case and don't walk in the valey but a little bit higher because the water can make the river go from 0 meter deep to 5 meters in few hours. In 1995, there was a tragedy linked to this phenomen and the wawes reached Imlil and destroy every thing
